An Outdoor Café Chair

Imagine an open-air dining terrace in a national park, where millions will visit every season expecting pleasant and enjoyable food, surroundings and amenities. Well-designed and well-made terraces invite public interaction, and the spaces must be furnished comfortably.

Pursuing a relentless quest to introduce fresh, improved furniture designs for outdoor public spaces, M&LF completes an exciting mock-up of its stacking cafe chair, the TS-90-1. Designed by architect Tom Shiner, the lightweight chair is intended to be inviting, useful and tough as nails.

There is only one option for seating surfaces: wood. No other material provides a comfortable and non-conductive sitting surface like natural wood, and it is a natural, organic, repairable, sustainable material. Thermally modified, and coated for extra protection, wood is the only choice for quality outdoor furniture.

The new chair is a welded frame of stainless steel, comprised of about 60% recycled material. There is no coating or paint. The stainless steel is able to absorb abuse.
